Default lq4 to t56 question

OK I have been educated here as to some Lq4 motors have a longer crank. I have also found that some come with a spacer that needs to be removed to mount the t56.

Just to clarify the confusion before I purchase a new crank and bearings for this swap.

Main question. If my flywheel/clutch is sticking too far out I obviously have to get it closer in towards the block. What/where (pics if possible) do I check to see if there is a spacer to be removed. I need to know to relay the info to the guy that is installing the engine.

Thanks,

If you're buying a new crank.... it's just a drop in and go. No length issues to work with.

Well I'm not buying a new crank, so I guess not the exact same situation. So what about for that?

Does yours have the spacer on the tail flange of the crank? What year is your motor?

Well, I don't know yet. I talked to the guy today but forgot to ask what year the motor is. He might know too but do you happen to know like what years need what or how I can be sure it'll come out right? I appreciate the help

I have an '04 block, and the crank flange sits almost flush with the back of the block. I am under the impression that the LQ4's with crank flanges that are almost flush with the block are the newer style, and you can bolt the LS1 flywheels etc. right too them. I could post a pic of mine tonight if anyone needs it to compare it to their own.
