Default No oil psi, new 6.0

ok so got a 6.0 iron block in my camaro, had to use the truck oil pressure sender as the hole is biger. the car one has two wires the truck only one im guessing the truck is grounded thru the block where as the 5.7 thru the wire? just fired the motor, cranked it over for about 20 sec first, no psi on gauge.fired it waited like 5 sec no press. went on here and searched some say older blocks take a long time to get oil up to top end. did like 3 more 5 sec runs still nothing. i loostened filter once and oil came out so i let it stop screwed it on and crnked it again. pulled filter again and was full again...so i think im getting oil but none in head. i had this prob when i put the 5.7 in the truck and it was the oring so when i did this one i made sure it was in good and flat and its a new pump and oring. that being said of course it could still be wrong but before i pull the pan i want other ideas.. yes the dumbell in the back is in too. please helpp! ive been waiting 3 weeks for my tb now i got it today and this crap happens.

sorry for the book just wanted to get all the info out

Is the dumbell in the correct direction?

My 97 block had oil pressure with in 3 seconds of firing. I will tell you though, those 3 seconds felt like 30..

so if i support the motor can i drop the k- enough to get the pan out? i really dont want to take the motor back out.

could it possibly be the gauge/sender? im sure many ppl have done 6.0 swaps what did you do for your senders?

Why not pull the oil sender out and check the pressure with a gauge right at the sender port? I know it's not the easiest thing to get to on a f-body,but I'd check that before dropping the oil pan.

Not sure about thread size ,most decent pressure gauge kits should have the correct one, just match it up to the senders threads when you remove it.

If the lifters are ticking it is very possible there's no oil pressure up top. If there was oil pressure they should of primed up by now.

speaking from experience as i just went thru this exact same thing.

1. remove front cover
2. remove front oil pump cover screws (5-6) bolts.
3. pack in engine assembly grease
4. get a bottle with a tube that can reach into the pick up tube area and squirt oil down in to the tube.
5. i squirted oil up in the cam shaft area
6. bolt everything back up. oil pump cover, front timing cover, reinstall crank pully etc..
7. you will have oil pressure.

trust me i battled and battled the same issue and when i did this everything worked beautifully. 60 psi

he may have found the problem of a missing plug but i would still do what i recommend. i wasn't missing a plug had oil in t he bottom end and it wouldn't get to the top. A little insurance goes a long way and you only have to tear it down once.
