Valve Spring Identification
I purchased a used LS1 and was told that the stock valve springs had been upgraded to comp 918's and it appears that the springs have in fact been replaced. The entire spring is painted blue, not just a blue stripe. I bought a set of 918's a while back, for a different motor, and they definitely had just a blue stripe painted on each one. I know there were some bad batches of 918's at one point and I think they started painting the stripe on at that
time, to identify the good springs. My question is, what did the bad ones look like? Were they painted all blue?

Those appear to be the '01 LS6 springs. They are entirely blue, untlike the newer 918s which just have a blue-stripe. The '01 LS6 springs came standard in the GM Hotcam kit.

I'm installing an '03 LS6 cam. If I want to bump the rev limiter to 6500, those springs need to come out, and '02 LS6 springs (or better) need to go in. Correct?
I happen to have a set of '02 takeouts. (greenish yellow paint).
Thanks for the info.
