Default Trouble With 408 and windage tray

Trying to put the windage tray back on aswell as the pick up tube. I know i have to shim and bring out the tube because of the crank but have anyone seen a write up on this i rather not screw up my build because of doing it wrong

I put 2 washers between the windage tray and the main cap nuts. I cut out a hole for the pickup tube bracket to go through so it was sitting in the same position as stock. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't ramed into the bottom of the oil pan. Some guys cut the bracket and weld it back together.

I did a 408 swap in mine and put two washers also. You will be fine dont worry about messing with the down tube. I get 25 PSI when full temp..and have not had any problems since.

Another option is to "dimple" the windage tray where the rod bolts would hit for additional clearance so you don't need washers. This keeps the oil pump pickup tube in the correct location.

don't know who told you that.. yes it must be spaced out but you will not have a problem with any thing else.. Perfect is a big word when it comes to a ls motor..lol. I made the mistake my self on the spacing.. just put two washers there and look and the crank and turn the crank.. you will then see if you have enough room. I did not turn the crank so that is why I made the mistake.. caused me 4 more hours of hard work droping the oil pan. Use a flash light..
