Default Cam installed, is this tuning or mechanical?

Hey all, just got my Torquer v3 installed and everything seems to be great mechanically. I had the car mail order tuned and the tune seems pretty good considering it's mail order.

I realized from the beginning that without a dyno tune it would not be perfect, and after a couple hundred miles of driving, the tune did get better. My problem is that the car always has a tough time starting and staying running. When I start it, it cranks right over, but unless I keep it at 12-1500 rpms for 30-90 seconds, it will die. If the AC is on it's worse (due to the added strain I guess). Even driving around town, it runs great, really strong, but if I'm making a turn at low or no throttle (coasting through an intersection) it dies 50% of the time.

I've heard mixed results about tuning and drilling the throttle blade bypass hole larger.

Does this sound like tuning will fix this or should I try drilling the hole?

Thanks all, I appreciate the help.

Mind sharing what the hell a dyno tune has to do with idle?

Get the car COMPLETELY tuned...not just a few WOT pulls on a dyno.

Well considering the previous dyno tunes I've been around consisted of what you consider a "complete tune" i.e. idle, cruising, snap throttles and full throttles. Im sure thats what the "hell" he was talking about.

When I said dyno tune, I in no way meant purely WOT tuning. I was under the impression a dyno tune touched on all areas of driving conditions. I could be wrong, I really don't know a lot about tuning.

If I could have a tune that just solved my idle and start issues and din't cost $400-600 that would be super. But alas, my searches have been in vain.

No one will dyno tune your vehicle at WOT It consist of everything!! when you go to get dyno just tell to your tuner the problem your having and he will take care of it!!

dunno who pissed in your cheerios but it is monday I guess

I have never heard of anyone just strapping a car down and romping it WOT without first resetting idle, part throttle, VE tables, MAF calibration ect first.

My tuner did all of this on his dyno...that's what I meant by dyno tune.

Well I'll buy that. Thanks all, that was helpful. Does everyone agree that $350-500 is about normal to expect to spend on this sort of thing? It has a "partial" tune from the mail order tuning but I'm not sure if they just wipe it clean and start over or if that tuning helps.

Like mentioned before, they will see where the car stands (With the Mail Order) and go from there, adjust or change whatever they need to.

I would go ahead and adjust your throttle body screw about 3/4 of a turn (same effect as drilling a hole in the TB). Just make sure you go through the TPS relearn process. Worked like a charm for me and I had the same issues with stalling.

Good Luck!

My similiar size cam does this with a dyno tune with a well respected tuner on here. I know it can be straightened out but will just take time..... In all fairness I live a ways from my tuner and he has not really had a chance to tweak it for me.....

RPM is good, I have been wanting to go to them for a while now, haven't had money yet but from numerous local people all they do is rave about rpm.
