Default quick question on 243 heads

02 Camaro Z28 M6 4.10 gears, hooker headers into 3" x with dumps. centerforce clutch, SLP lid/intake. 100 shot occasionally.

My buddy recently did a head/cam(ls3) upgrade on his LS2 goat. He is giving me a pretty good deal on his old heads. So my question is it worth it to buy his heads? I plan on porting them during summer and then throwing them on in the winter. Also plan on going with the TSP cam package with the MS3 cam, and upgrading:
Timing chain
LS6 oil pump
Solid Motor mounts

sound good? any things missing?
i know ill need gaskets and crank bolt
thanks for any replies

Do it, nothing wrong with a nice set of ported 243s, you could even send them to TSP to port them for you. You will need new springs as well.

Thats a great upgrade.
As garygnu asked, how were you planning to port them? Several good vendors on here offer great porting services if you have a good set of heads to send them to use. Overall, its very affordable too.

Dont forget about milling them to bring the compression up and maybe going to a larger intake valve as well.

But if your set on running an MS3 I doubt you'll be able to do either of those, lol.

yeah, im pretty set on getting the MS3 cam. Ive read a lot of good things about it on here, and its not my daily driver. The engine has 101,000 miles on it so i might do a refresh on the bottom end as well while i have it out. Any other suggestions while i have it out of the car? I think i am going to try and get a tubular K member for it as well if finances allow.
