Hone and Rings ?
I need to know if I can re ring and use the stock pistons on my 00 block.I did a search and read, but just need more info opinions. What the smallest you can hone a 00 block with out having to buy a new set of pistons?Or are the stock pistons useless and need to hone to a bigger sized piston?I know the sell oversized pistons .005 I think, but really not looking into buying a set.Thoughts.Any of you folks used your stock pistons and just re ring your pistons?

Yes, I have. Would recommend going from the standard moly top ring to a set using a ductile iron top ring. Top moly rings tend to be more sensitive to heat. If there is a slight overheat issue, I have seen them lose some compression. Summit has them. Total Seal T7984-5, the 3 rings are ductile iron, cast iron, stainless steel. Just enough hone for polishing, no more. These are file fit rings. So, make sure you have a way to file the ring ends correctly in order to get the correct fit.

Those are a real nice set of rings, but a little to much for me.Im pretty sure they would seal pretty good tho.Wouldn't any hone make the bore bigger? Is .001 available for just a clean up of the bore?
