Default LS6 GM Ported Heads

I wanted to know what you guys think of the GMPP ported 243 heads. I found a NEW set for 750.00 and thought it might be a steal. Whats your input? I thought I read that they were designed for a specific purpose and a specific cam. Any advise would be appreciated. I am buildng an LS6 (I scored a NEW 1168 block for 400.00) and want to buys some heads. Looking for a subtle 450-475HP to the ground. Thanks!

Thats a really good price for those cylinder heads. Good deal.
Maybe call a board vendor and ask for a cam recommendation... aside from that im sure they would work great for most any applications.
What internals are you looking at for your LS6 build?

I think so too. I also scored a new LS6 block for 400.00. I am wading into the build as I am sort of a newbie to "building" LS engines. I have run and installed several crate LS motors but never built one. I have a some I beam Scats and a fresh 10/10 GM crank so far. Looking for near stock compression ( not sure of the pistons yet) and a good cam. I just want to touch the 475hp range. A great street engine. Im just collecting parts so far. Thanks for the input.

A good, intelligent cam choice on your part and you will easily hit your goals!
Enjoy the build, you have a good start on it so far.

I don't know how much they go for new, but if they're just 243 heads, you can get them used for about 500 on a bad day.

He's talking about the GMPP CNC LS6 heads.

OP: They're a nice head for some combos....we had some nice success with them about 5 years ago on a 383ci engine we built. Be careful with the combo....they have a massive intake port (250cc according to the GMPP catalog) and in my opinion are best suited for some extra cubes or a high revving engine!
