Default Should the lifters fit tightly in the lifter trays?

I installed my new LS7 lifters into new LS2 lifter trays. The lifters fit tightly into the trays, but the old ones did not. The old lifters would slide in and out of the old lifter trays very easily. The new ones are snug enough that the trays held up the lifters while I changed the cam. Do they just loosen up over time? Is it normal for them to fit pretty snugly when new?

Yes, they should fit snug..as a rule of thumb I always change out to the newer ls2 style trays when I am that deep in a motor..only $8 each

If you have the heads off then by all means. I changed my old ones 2 times in 60k miles. I also ran about 8 different cams though it.
