Default Removing timing cover seal

I'm trying to replace the seal in the timing cover that seals against the harmonic balancer. The seal that is in there right now which I'm pretty sure is the original, is frozen in there really good. I can't for the life of me remove it! I've tried for 30 minutes straight with a hammer, chisel, screwdriver, knife, etc., and it has not even budged. The seal is completely ruined now, and I even bent the lip that it sits on on the timing cover. I haven't seen anyone else with this problem. Any tips to getting this thing out?

Shouldn't be that damn hard. My buddy did his and sprayed a little WD-40 on it then hit it with a hammer and screwdriver a few times and it came right out. Weird yours is in that damn good!

I assume you have the timing cover off the car. Lay the cover across a couple of 2X4's and remove it with a hammer and a big flat punch.

I know, I really can't figure out why it's stuck in there so good.

I've tried tapping it out with a hammer like that a lot, and it just isn't going to come out that way. It's to the point that there isn't much material left on the seal to even grab onto with a punch. It's almost looking like I'll just have to get another timing cover

Just to get a better idea of what is going on, maybe see where it is he is prying with the screwdriver/chisle/etc. That seal is not very hard to get out. A picture might show what is wrong or different.
