485 flywheel expect 15 to 20 precent less at the rear wheels. Most I've read of with a SLP H & C was ~420rwhp

for the price they charge you can get a better setup, TSP has great H/C packages right now.

Why not a nice set TEA heads and a FMS cam? That combo is making some nice power.

Thumbs up SLP H & C package

I posted a response to a similar thread on another board. Thought you might be interested in my results. BTW, the advertised 485hp number is at the flywheel.

I have the SLP heads and Cam (pn 51013) on my '02 Firehawk. My car came from the factory w/the LS6 intake. The addition of this H & C package is a total Thumbs Up from my perspective.

Head specs from their website: http://www.slponline.com/view_produc...NUMBER=1250399
Manley stainless steel 2.020" intake/1.575" exhaust valves feature a high-performance multi-angle valve job.
Milled 63.5cc combustion chambers raise compression ratio to 10.7:1.
Heads are assembled with all new hardware, including:
SLP Titanium Valve-Spring Retainers
SLP High-Performance Valve Springs
GM valve seals and keepers

Camshaft Specs: Valve Lift Duration@.050
in: .576" 234º
ex: .571" 228º

Centerline - 112º
Lobe Separation - 113º

SLP Performance Parts, Toms River, NJ installed it. They (Brian Reese) did the dyno tune also. This package (installed 10/02) was with the earlier SLP heads prior to the present day heads using larger valves. Today's package should do even better than mine. See my signature for my total performance bolt-ons. Most are SLP and IMHO are totally worth the price. They include:

*SLP CAI, Smooth Bellows, 160* stat, 85mm MAF
*SLP Billet flywheel & clutch pkg
*SLP headers
*LM
*Race pipes
*Moser 12 bolt, 411 gears, Eaton diff w/800# springs and 22 disks (std w/33 spline axels)

Yeah, a lot of SLP parts, but I've also obtained suspension, brake and road race parts from other vendors.

Bottom line:

*Rear Wheel numbers: 419 RWHP; 396 SAE RWTrq. Keep in mind these numbers were through a 12 bolt that eats up HP vs a 10 bolt.
*FWIW, raw RWHP maxed out at about 455

I'm sure there have been improvements across the entire spectrum of performance parts suppliers and you could find a combination of parts to do better. But, this post started w/a queston as to the performance of SLPs H & C package.

My car is streetable from its idle all the way through WOT. I take it to the race track (Summit Point, Pocono, etc) and its an absolute blast. The performance, both handling and acceleration, are up there w/ZO6s and Porsches. With Victor Racers it can corner w/ stock ZO6s. Quite an accomplishment for an FBody.

If I had a chance to do it again, I go the same route. SLPs quality was worth much to me in ensuring I received a product that would work first time and not need repeated trips to tweek it.

YMMV

Regards
Steve
