Default 450 hp N/A. Suggestions?

I wanting to make around 450/450 N/A with my car. What i have to work with is a 01 z28 m6. Im not wanting to break the seal on the bottem end tho. And i really wanna be able to do it with a mild cam and mild heads. The car is bone stock right now and im just wanting to get a game plan set up here.

Let me hear some opinions on what yall would do in my case!

What would be the first step in this 450hp direction?

Having a stock bottom and wanting to go mild is tough to do at 450rwhp

your probably not getting 450rwtq out of a 346cid unless you spin it very high, from what your asking, a mild 402/408 will make 450rwhp/450rwtq pretty easy

430-450 rwhp/390-410 rwtq is more what you will propably wind up with a mild setup with all the supporting mods. something like an afr 205 or tfs 215 with say a 59-62 cc chamber and a cam in the high 22x or low 23x, good intake like a ported fast 96 or 102 and good exhaust system should give good results. a cam much bigger than that and it won't be MILD anymore. just my $.02

the reason i was thinkin i could go mild head and cam was because i saw a thread on here where a guy made 403 rwhp with i custom ground cam with beehive springs and 243 heads. And that with stock manifolds, and a ls6 intake. so i figured there would be no reason with a few more matching bolt ons i could reach my 450 goal and still be "mild".

Click the link in my signature it's a real mild / budget setup. Amazing torque under the curve, looks better than most LS2 / 6.0 torque curves under 4000 rpm.

An even better way to approach this would be to look at your performance goals ET/mph, your budget, and how you plan on using your car (daily driver, weekend warrior, track only, driving 10,00 miles annually etc), and your personal tolerance for idle quality and drivability...roll all those things into a decision, prioritize them in order of importance, and make a decision. Dyno numbers are just that...numbers, they don't ensure you of anything (necessarily). Would you be happy with 450rwhp only to get smoked by a cam only car? I think you get my drift, but think about those things I mentioned, then call a few reputable shops with a history of creating cars with good ET/mph's and then make a decision.

Moved from dyno section. That section is reserved for posting results.

Right on the money. Should be easier for him with a M6 then it was for me with a A4 and AFR 205s plus a 224/228

I have ported 243 heads, TR 230/236 cam, and full bolt-ons. I made 430 hp through an A4 and 3200 stall. My guess is the same setup with a M6 should make 450 hp.

I agree with pharmd - don't simply look at peak dyno numbers but instead something that will meet your style and goals.

450/450 M6

AZPS03(Ed Curtis)
New lifters
New PR
New oil pump
FAST 90/90
1 7/8 long tubes
X pipe
42# injectors
AFR 215CC or 243 stage 1 set up from TEA/AI or any reputable shop
Walboro 255 pump

Nothing mild about that and you should be there all day. your looking about 4k in parts and if you don't do it yourself about 1500 for labor and about 350-500 depending on who tunes your car.

This set up should pull hard from about 2.5k rpm all the way to 7K

ok im lookin for low 11s and still have good driveability. i wanna be able to take a trip in it and not have to worry about it. i just want it to be reliable and a fun little street car. do yall think 450/450 would get me that deep into the 11s?

Drive ability comes down to what you can handle and tuning. i just put on some Z06 titanium mufflers on my car with full exhaust and you will never know the type of cam and the size it is.
