Default Heads, Cam...Intake?

I have an 04 GTO with just full exhaust and CAI and it is going to be mod time again soon, I am working two jobs right now so I can save up to buy some new fun. I have a set of 243 heads that I bought a while back and I am gong to buy a cam (Texas Speed 228R Camshaft, 228/228 .588/.588) with in the next month. My question is should I buy an intake as well, I know the 04's have the ls6 intake and what I have heard and read is that they are very good. I just want to have more power, not going to take the car to the track and it's not daily driven. I don't want to drop the money of having the h/c installed and then regret not having bought an intake as well if it really helps. Any suggestions? I appreciate any input here, thanks.

Every thing you change heads, cam, intake will need a tune. You want more power then yes,i would get a fast intake, worth another 20hp over your ls6. Then you can do just one tune and have more power. i would look at a 228/232 cam over the 228r. More power and drive the same as the 228r.

the ls6 intake will work well up to 450rwhp,PnP your TB.also consider a EPS custom cam.if you get a TSP cam buy a cam kit,cam/springs/push rods.

Thunderstruck, the stock heads are on the car right now (241) but I am going to have the 243's port and polished then installed when I have bought everything else. Mike, I'll take a look at that cam, I've been stuck on the 228r for a while, but I am defiantly open to suggestions if it will make more power and still have good drive-ability. Gary I don't know much about TSP so I'll have to take a look at that too. Thanks for the info guys I'm going to have to keep throwing around ideas until I find the set up I want.

if you are considering a fast get one used, they are not really worth buying new for the mild type setup you are considering

Why don't you send the set of 243s to TSP and get them to Stage 1 them. I would lean towards the Torquer V2 over the 228. When I was running the TV2 I bought a set of PRC Stage 1 LS6 (243s) and the car picked up an additional 50 rwhp on the dyno.

Not a bad idea on a used one. NC, I have someone that is going to do the port work for me already, but TV2 may not be a bad choice either, I like the sound of 50 more rwhp.
