Default I'm installing my cam this weekend and have a few ???

I have a couple of questions regarding my cam install this weekend that I'll be doing in my garage.

1) When reinstalling the STOCK LS1 hub pulley, what process is most effective
in preventing cross threading the crank?

2) I bought the stock crank bolt but have read about using a longer crank bolt? Is this necessary and where do I get it from?

3) When I pull the cam out should I buy pen magnets or spin the camshaft so the lifters stay up?

Thanks guys.

1) Use a longer than stock crank bolt

2) A bolt shop, and yes, I would personally say it is necessary. The specs are M16 x 2.0 pitch x 120mm long. DONT USE THIS TO FULLY SEAT THE PULLEY, just use it to start the pulley on the crank, then finish the job with the old stock bolt

3) Thats up to you. Pen magnets add a level of safety. You can also insert rods into the front of the motor that keep the lifters from falling, but on later year models it can also lock the lifters in place and will cause them to block the cam from coming out. Doing it un-aided is like russian roulette...its all up to you. Some cars hold the lifters up just fine, some don't.
