Lunati 382 Rotating Assembly + 5.3L Heads = xxx:1 CR
I'm building a 382 stroked LS1
CUrrently I have TEA 5.3L Stage II heads (not milled) so my current compression should be about 10.8:1
When I do the 382 will the compression raise if I don't touch the heads? or will it still stay at 10.8:1 ?
Lunati's site says that the 382 kit raises compression to 10.6:1 on a stock motor... so given stock CR is 10.1:1 that's .5 increase
So using this logic then my 10.8:1 5.3 L Heads would yield 11.1:1 CR on the 382 ? Correct?
If I mill 0.030 would that still be safe to run on 93 octane or would i be pushing too much?

Also... the kit i'm getting has 3.898 pistons... i'm using my current block and it's got about 40k on it... think I'll be ok? or should I do a .005 overbore and buy a different set of pistons?

I think that the 382 will raise your compression to 11.3:1
Lunati says 10.6:1 stock is 10.1:1 5.3 are 10.8:1
so lunati adds .5 over whatever you have now... so 11.3:1
I'd advise against milling your heads
Regardig the pistons... not sure... I spoke w/my dad and he said that you can just do a hone (just roughs up the sides of the cylinders) and it shouldn't change the diamater.. but dunno for sure...
