Default Callies stroker crank too cheap?

Any opinion on Callies stroker cranks? I mean they're really cheap but I doubt that price pays for a whole lot. Am I wrong?

I've never read anything bad about Callies cranks other than their wait time on custom units. Why do you think their prices are cheap? What are you comparing them to?

If using a 4 bolt head you are going to push water before you need to worry about anything stronger than a compstar crank.

Callies has 2 forge cranks. 4030 or what and a 5120 or something like that. The 5120 is about 200 dollars cheaper. Maybe he is seeing that. Yes its a 4" stroke. I talked to Erik at HK about this crank. He said its good for NA and even small nitrous shots. Both are good just depends on your goals.

I'd put their 5140 cast crankshaft alongside Eagle and the other budget cranks as far as machining quality and all. Don't be horribly shocked if it needs turned to make those journals perfectly round....we have seen it fairly frequently with the Eagle and Scats too.

The center counterweight Callies billet is simpler to install and priced about the same as the sonny stuff.

That's nice to know. All I've heard about them is that they're impossible to get on any sort of time line.

If you are looking for common stroke stuff they have a plan to stock those. The custom stroke stuff may be a little wait, but that happens with Sonny also. The Callies has a taper in the center weights that saves a bunch of work fitting the crank in the block.
