Default tsp 224r cam

what valve springs should i run with this cam (224/224 .581"/.581" 112 lsa)? how long should these springs go before needing replacement? im looking for valvesprings that last at least ~20k miles with daily driving and weekly track use (if they exist ). im also considering the tr224 cam, but id rather go with this one since it has a bit more lift.

I bought the Crane duels. I like having the insurance of an extra spring incase one breaks. JMO

If you're gonna purchase from TSP, ask about the Patriot duals.
REV duals work good.
You can splurge and get the Comp921's.
Crane duals.

918's may get ya to 20K, but might as well get duals.

The 224R is a good choice. It's a GREAT street/strip cam and will make some great power while retaining great streetability. We have a cam kit with your choice of camshaft, Crane dual valve springs, titanium retainers, hardened spring seats, valve seals, and TSP hardened pushrods for $759.99 + shipping (and tax if you're in Texas). This way you get a great package price with the peace-of-mind of a dual valve spring.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

thanks for the info, so far i think im going to go with the 224R, PP 5.7 stage 2 ls6 heads, and the PP dual valve springs. you guys think this combo sounds good, or are the PP stg 2 ls6 heads overkill?

With the 224R camshaft, the stage II LS6-style cylinder heads won't show very much peak HP gain over the stage II 5.3L heads. You will have a little additional mid-range power, though. The LS6-style cylinder heads will give you more growing room if you ever decide to go with a larger camshaft or added cubic inches. The 5.3L heads can become a limiting factor if you do build a larger engine, but the LS6-style heads will be able to be upgraded with larger valves, opened up to the larger bore size, and make great power.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

I have a 224 cam on a .579 lift with 112lsa and i went with 918's. I haven't had any problems. I made 385hp with tuning, macs, cut out, throttle body, lid, AND LS1 intake
