Default Help, car won't start weird gauge issue

So guys I'm stuck right now at a chipotle with a dead battery and am waiting for a buddy to pick me up to run to the auto parts store. Anyway I didn't notice any battery issues before and all of a sudden it's dead when I hop back in to start it. The weird thing happens when I attempt to start it and pull my keys out of the ignition. About five second latter I get this gauge dance. See video. Is this a sign of something else or just a dead battery?

It's probably because of the dead battery, newer cars can do all sorts of weird things when there's little to no juice. I had a newer Expedition at work that had a junk battery, and it had some weird noises coming from the door chimes and from around the PCM area, like clicking sounds. New battery, everything went away.

^we will see. I got the new battery and running back to chipotle right now. Hopefully te car isn't towed. My gut is it's just the battery, but the weird dance has me stunned. Never seen that before. Also, about two weeks ago I pulled the trans and stuck a yank converter in. No issues since, but I'm wondering if it's maybe a grounding issue or something.

its possible but there are only 2 plugs for the transmission. unless of course you pinched a different wire while you were doing the work.

I swapped batteries and it started right up. I noticed quite a bit of corrosion on one of the terminals. I'm thinking it was just buildup over time and with the recent storms outside just got to the point where the connection failed.

Good to hear everything's well! Just make sure to keep up with cleaning the corrosion, and you'll be all good.

definitely clean off the corrosion, its creating a parasitic draw.

The gauge dance is normal when the battery is low or dies on the ls1 cars. Thats is a good indication that there isn't enough voltage from the battery. just an fyi
