Default Help with compression on Corvette LS1 heads on a 5.3

I got a good set of LS1 corvette heads for my truck. My friend is going to port and polish them.
The only thing I am worried about is compression. I want to have about 9.5-10.0-1. Which Head gasket should i use?
Should I mill the heads .030 ?
What do you guys think?

if you mill the heads that will raise your compression anyway, look at the 6.0L truck heads from Patriot Perf. ----> I believe they are the same as LS6 just larger combustion chamber.

What head gaskets are you going to use? 5.3l or 5.7l? Milling the 5.7l .036" should get you pretty close to the stock 5.3l chamber size.

Good luck,

Richard

Not sure which head gasket I should use. ???
Far as the milling will this effect a high lift cam if I decide to put one in eventually ?
If I dont mill the head what compression do u think ill be looking at with a thin head gasket ?

I think you'd want to run the 5.7l head gasket. The stock 5.3l gasket bore's too small and would probably develop leaks from the fireseal around the chamber.

Donno about the P/V with a high lift cam. My 5.3l truck has a .559" lift cam and 112ēlsa has absolutely no problems with P/V clearance. Of course your intake valves are larger and would therefore reduce P/V clearance. Afraid your gonna have to check this one before you run it to be safe.

So the heads should bolt on just fine right ? The 5.7 head gasket should work ? Im not worrying about the clearance as of yet because i dont have a cam but i will be looking at it in the future. I just hope the computer is ok with this change over.
