Default oil pressure

i put in a new thunder racing modified oil pump, but my pressure seems low. it gets to about 45psi cold then around 15-20 warm. seems alittle low. i put a new pickup tube o ring on on the install. i was thinkin if i tear the car apart again should i put 2 o rings?? will that help? or just try one new oring again? the double roller timing chain pulls the pickup tube out toward the front of the car. seems like alot of pressure on the front side of the o ring.

To me 15-20 is low for a stock skortblock. What is it at while cruising?Should be atleast 40-45psi minimum. Also it is important that the spacers are put on correctly for spacing the pump out.The one with the oil hole can be put on upside/down and give you low oil pressure.

cruizing, the oil pressure is in the 20 to 30 range. i double checked the spacers when i did the install. i think the o ring is getting squashed inside the pickup tube because i have to pull it so far foward. maybe double o rings will strenghen it?? any ideas?

You should pull the pump and check the O-ring.If it looks ok install the old pump.I tighten the pickup tube before installing the pump bolts so it lines up easier(O-ring)..
Just double and triple check the spacer. It can be installed so it blocks 1/2 the oil hole and drops the oil pressure.

i have a thread goin just like this. I just installed a cam with a thunder ls6 pump and am runnin about 20psi. The difference is that im still using a single chain and not a double roller so it may not necessarily be the spacer. GL with figuring it out. Prob just the o-ring even though i was quite careful with mine

It could just be the oil pump, that is why I suggested putting back in the stocker.
