Default Long block or Rebuild?

Long story short. I spun a rod bearing and had another one getting ready to spin. My car is a 99 ta with 6 speed and stock rear end. Mac mid length headers, slp loudmouth cat back, slp lid and plans for ls6 intake

My options are looking like:

tsp 383 long block stroker motor 7000.00

tsp ls1/ls6 long block motor 6500.00

Rebuild myself 5000.00 rough

Most of the parts listed are through texas speed

Rotating assembly
high vol. oil pump
push rods
rockers
main studs/bolts
aftermarket heads(havent decided yet)
gasket kit
head bolts
harmonic balancer bolt
lifters
cam(havent decided yet)

I've been through so many threads and websights this past week I cant decide where I want to go with this. I have the ability to put this engine together with the help from my neighbor but the ease of mind having it built by texas speed would be nice.

I know im missing something on my parts list so if anyone would like to add anything by all means. Also any other suggestions are welcome. Pro's con's 346 vs. 383. After all is said and done I'd like to see 425-450hp. I wont be bent out of shape if I dont hit those numbers though. Thanks everyone

Negative, that bad boy jumped up to $5,800. I was going to purchase the LS6from them until that nice little price hike. PM me if you're looking to do the LS6.

Is there a difference between the ls1 and ls6 short block. The long block from tsp comes with 5.3 heads and cam of choice

Try Crate Engine Depot. They used to have them for 3k and some change. You just gotta ask for the caddy one instead of the Vette one. Worth a try....
