Default More money than know how

hey guys i just bought a 00 slp ss camaro m6. Fastest car I have ever owned, and ive had turbo cars, mustangs and so on. But this car really is a beauty and now it needs to be the beast. Im sure you all have answered questions like this 1000 times. But i figured it is always fun to give your opinions. So I have a $5000 budget and im looking for builds that i can do with that much money. Im talking EVERYTHING I can buy. Im looking for around 450-500 whp and or low 12s high 11s in the 1/4. Thanks guys current mods are listed below

Hurst shifter w/ hurst T-handle
UMI strut tower brace
subframe connectors
Pacesetter Longtubes
Pacesetter Off road Y-pipe
TSP rumbler exhaust (no tips exhaust piping hid)
Stock SLP Chrome Z-r1's 275/40/17F 285/40/17R
Drilled/slotted rotors
"performance" brakes (not sure what kind was on it when bought it)
uninstalled richmond 4.10 gear and install kit

I say call up one of our sponsors, tell them what you want to do, and let them do what they do. I would suggest TSP or Thunder as they are well established around here. Im sure others will suggest EPS and Vengeance, as they are well respected also.

And good post above, with even the slightest bit of aggressive driving on a H/C car, you WILL break the 10 bolt. How long it will last is anyone's guess.

Cool get a good rear end as mentiond above then get a nice custom cam with all the mods to support the cam and you should hit low 12 high 11s if u can drive ? plus a good suspension also. im sure just a rear and good suspension is going to kill that 5000 bucks but thats where id start.

Make ur weak points strong then move on to the motor. IMO

Okay man sounds good. Im pretty new to this so ill have to look into suspension. LoL sucks i thought id buy it and blow 5000 on the motor and be the **** haha.

On another note. I have heard of ppl just upgrading there cam and getting close to 400 and running in the 12s. I would be happy with that. If possible tell me the list of things i should buy. Hoping i can stay with stock rear

Stock rear is a ticking time bomb waiting to explode.

It would be fine for a wimp driver that never got on the car at all but since ur looking into doing a cam id say your going to give her a few WOT (Wide Open Throttle) runs every now and then and since ur 6 speed yanking those gears is going to kill that rear faster than a auto would.

I mean its ur money if u want a cam get one !!!
But after u get the cam give her alittle hell and blow the rear then what ? let it sit in the yard and listen to it ? lol

Im in the same boat u are, i want a damn cam so bad i cant stand it but before i do the cam swap im going to do the rear end first because i know shes going to blow first clutch dump at the track.

Gotcha man. Guess ill go ahead and buy a rear first and some suspension mods, which should at least get me to mid 12s(Im a pretty damn good driver). And then wait till tax time to upgrade the engine. Im just ready to beat up on some local gts.

Central Racing Parts currently has a special on the S-60 Strange Engineering rear end for the F-Body! It is a stout rear end has a 9-3/4" ring gear compared to 9" for the Ford 9". It is much stouter than and less costly than a 12-bolt. It weighs 25 lbs more than a 12-bolt.

If anyone is interested call or pm me for a price!

Thanks
Carl

I seriously doubt it will handle ur car on slicks now just depends on what rpm u dump the clutch at. Then again it might hold up to it. Some do some dont ! Most dont hold up tho

Head /cam ls6 intake, but your gonna need a rearend sooner or later, some drag radials will help a lot.I plan on putting 4.10s in a 12 bolt, also since you have a m6 look into a tick master cylinder,is this a dd or just get in and have fun car?if I was in your shoes,I would go cam and the rearend, this time of year a few will pop up for sale on here.yeah if you launch hard even a bolt on ls1 can snap that rear.m6 puts a lot more stress than an auto but it really just comes down to that the 10 bolt is such a weak spot, they are not worth building up eithier, just stick to a 9 or 12 bolt rear, good luck with your build, call a sponser to help ya out with the cam choice I went with texas speed and they were really a lot of help, take care and God bless

consider a blower or a rear mount turbo system.the turbo would be easier on the drive train on the launch ,but pull hard on the top end.

$5000 should be easily enough to reach 12's for sure. Even 11's but I'm not sure. Heads/cam/intake would be a good start. The rear end/tranny will be the weaker parts of your build just FYI. A lot of good opinions in this thread. Just search, search, search. You will find more than enough information here, promise.
