Hard to say, but the only experiences I have had with oil pan breakage involved castrophic failure of the rotating assembly.

I have heard of this happening, but from what I remember the damage is usually more extensive than the pan. Pull the starter and check the block for damage. I seem to remember something about an ear breaking off of the block.

no if theres a cracked pan thats not good if theres oil everywhere thats worse if theres a hole thats terrible. what happened did the engine shut itself down or did it run until you cut it off

Was it raining just before this happened? Because they all leak water past the cowling onto the engine. If any injector orings or the intake gaskets leak a little and let rain water into the engine. The high reduction starter GM uses will allow a simple hydro lock to turn into a broken block. Good Luck
