Smile New comp 224/228 in - Better MPG?

I just had the following installed in my car.

More Performace custom grind nitrious cam 224/228 114, d-springs, retainers, pushrods, headers, no cat, y-pipe,.

I was driving back from NC to VA (I have a "first shot" tune in it right now) and it is running a bit lean WOT. We are working on correcting that but, to my disbelief I was over the 200 mile mark when I hit half a tank! Now I do not have a problem with this but, was a bit shocked. Granted it was highway driving @ 1750 RPM with 2.73 gears but still.

I will post up more info numbers and sounds when we finish getting her in the 880 range w/ the O2's

yeah I was getting about 27 MPG before but that would put me at about 180 miles at half a tank. The second half of the tank seems to go faster due to GM quality gauges

I got some KR at first and we got that straight, now just to get it to idle and run in the 880-900 range WOT.

dude the gas gauge is electronically controlled by the ecu. so its probably the ecu telling the gas gauge to scale like that, maybe to make you feel better

i bet you could get a code-warrior to hack the ecu so you are full until you reach 1 gallon then go to empty

I went from averaging 23 to 24 mpg w/basic bolt on's to ~21 to 23mpg with heads/cam & gears. I think my mpg would be the same or better if I still had 3.42's instead of 4.10's.

Best was 32.8mpg highway w/basic bolt on's. No long trips since heads and cam but I have got ~26.5 a few times with a good bit of highway driving with stuff in sig.

Well I was just using it as a point of reference but I would like 1/2 to actually be around 7 gallons. That's just me, I guess. GM

What are you doing about your tuning with the Predator. Is James making a custom tune for you? How is your car running with the tune that is in there with your cam.

James is having some issues with getting it to idle but to be fair he has only made 2 attempts so far and we were working on getting the LTirms down. He was busy yesterday so hopefully today! It "almost" idles now, and it willl run in closed loop but it usually stalls when it goes to open.
