Default LS6 cam for my 2002 LS1

I keep reading about the old LS6 cam vs the new LS6 cam which is confusing me. I am not sure which would be better for my turbo build and which one fits with out mods. I thought I read something about 2 bolts vs 3 bolts cams. Just need some clarification on the old LS1 cams vs newer LS cams.

Thanks!

Can I use any year LS6 cam? Basically what year is there a split in the different type of bolt patterns for the cams?

To my knowledge, any LS1, LS6 cam will work. I have never been in a LS2, 3 or what not, all the ones I have put in had 3 bolts. I have put 5 2002- 2004 405 HP cams in LS1 Camaro's and Vette's, all from 1998's to 2004's regular LS1 241 and 853 earlier year (1997-1999) heads. always ran Comp Cam 918 springs with stock retainers exept for one he bought the Comps retainers and back then ran 7.40 pushrods but the correct length would be 7.425 but they didn't make them back then because the base circle is a touch smaller and the valves in the 2002 up 243 LS6 heads was a touch longer. Hope this helps, GOOD LUCK.

The VVT cams have 1 bolt to retain the sprocket. All the other cams have 3 bolts. I don't remember seeing any 2 bolt.
