Default Help me find a cheap stroker kit.

I want a 383 stroker for a LS1. Is it cheaper to buy a rotating assembly or as seperate items? Eagle cranks are alot cheaper but, by the time you buy pistons, rings, rods, and bearings. Would it be cheaper than just buying it from Lunati?
Suggestions please, thank you.

Just the crank alone from Eagle will save you alot of money even if you buy all the parts seperatly. The lunati cranks are not cheap!!.

Contact APE or Futral. They both have pretty awesome prices.

Eagle vs. Lunati is over $1000 different!

Eagle - $1000 or so, Lunati - $2000+ Look at Texas-Speed's site
Pistons - about the same - Diamond at about $600
Rods - not much difference - Eagle makes them too, got mine on E-bay
Bearings - most are within a few buck of each other

Conclusion, $1000 buys a lot of bearing, etc.

APE has some excellent deals on stroker stuff...well worth calling them first.

Check with TBryne if you want a Lunati set up...

You cant beat that deal with a stick.
You do get what you pay for in most cases, and the Launti kit is better, but how can you pass up a price like this???? The Launti kit alone is about the same price as this 409 put together.
Call them, they are very nice smart people who will help you put at a fair price.

cheapest way is Eagle crank and rods.......the rods are limited at about 650HP crank (thats what Eagle rates them at) but I think thats the bolts they use (just the standard 8740 bolts).

Get what you pay for. I agree 150%. But lets think about it for a second. Is the Eagle parts a 1000 hp crank and rod combo? Never. Is it a 800 hp combo. Maybee. Is it a 600 hp combo? Every day of the week. I like to put the best of everything in my personal motor . I have an Stage II 87 GN with carrillo rods and buick motorsport crank, but i AM looking to make close to a 1000.

So far the eagle stuff has proven itself on many , many occasions and we have been very happy with it. I think it will suit 99% of everyones needs.

Our 383/409 stroker kit is 2500.00 when off the shelf pistons are used. 2600.00 if custom pistons are needed. That will add 3-4 weeks to the ship date.

that’s it right there........know what you are going to do with the car/engine and build to fit. It won't do you any good to have 2000HP capable parts if all you’re doing is a 400HP buildup, but don't put 600HP parts in a motor if you think you are ever going to even approach 600HP (stay well under their capacity and you will be ok).

As of right now I haven't seen very many people runing a 383 (non solid roller) stroker and puting over 600 Flywheel HP without a power adder. I am sure they are out there but whoever it is damn sure dosen't have a budget.
The question starting this thread by stupidfast was "Help me find a cheap stroker kit."
With this being asked I doubt he will be using C5R heads, a custom intake and TB to beable to get 600 HP out of a 383 or 409.
I do realize that a good setup with a nasty set of heads and a large cam could put im in the 515 range RWHP if everything goes perfect, and he uses a LSX intake and large TB. This would be somewhere right around 600 HP in the motor, and would be geting close to the peak of the eagle kit. (As rated)
I believe the eagle kit would handle this setup, but would stay away from adding Nitrous or boost.

Another idea I can throw out your way would be to do a all bore 387 motor.
The LS1 stock crank has more than proven you can throw a ton of **** at it without anything going wrong. Let Brian at
AutomotivePerformance.net do the motor and I think you will be very happy.
Here is their number 586-954-3181
This way you could put real good parts in and get the extra cubes as well.
Adding a power adder would then be a option as well.
Or there is still the good old Launti Stroker kit. Good for as much HP as nearly any of us can throw at it.
Those are the different options I would look at if I were you.
I dont know your budget, nor what your goals are. Hopefully this helps.

Brian at AP-engineering is extremely helpful, i would highly recommend him for any build you you may be planning. Not to mention the prices he quoted me for my 387 All Bore build up are very cheap when combined as a complete shortblock, versus buying one part at a time. Give Brian a call, he wont let you down.

my statement wasn't ment to start any crap , but it is plain and simple. After exchangine Emails and Phone Calls with Chris @ AP and understanding wrist pins "I" choose to use the better set-up. If you have a budget go eagle all the way and dont look back. I do believe you do get what you pay for. i have never dealt with Brian but i have been with Chris, nice guy.

True, about making the choices depending on your goals. I only plan on a small N20 Shot ontop of my big bore. Im not trying to win trophies at the track, i just want a monster to drive to work each day and a little juice to help swat away these cobras. Im aiming for the 500 RWHP mark and a good 450 RWTQ. This is why im going with the Eagle Rods for cost.
