Question 5.3 or 5.7 heads?

i cant decide what heads to get...?
i would like a CR between 10.5-10.8:1
which head will make more power?
which head is better........and why?

so should i get...
un- milled or slightly milled S2 5.3
or a set of 5.7 S2 heads......please help?

I would favor the 5.3's over the 5.7's. If you looking at heads TEA's 1.5's w/hand finishing will be very hard to beat. The 5.3's can have more compression with less milling this can tend to give a little more P to V clearance than a set of 5.7's that have to be milled more for the same compression. The 5.3 may have a better exhaust port to work with in stock form.

If your commited to PP's. I would get the PP 5.3's. Yesterday someone posted pictures of the PP 5.7 chambers and they are untouched. The top porters do a some chamber touch up. The 5.3's have some touch ups in the chambers.

What cam are you looking to run?

Also might want to look a lot of PP dyno results to help decide if you want 5.7's or 5.3's

I ran some Patriot stage II 5.3's that were unmilled with a similar cam.. the TR220. It made 416rwhp 392rwtq with stock tuning. Send me an email to sculbert1@netzero.net and I'll reply back with one of my dyno graphs. That was a really good combo with lots of low end and midrange. I wish I would have spent some extra $$ to have it tuned wtih LS1edit and seen how much more I could have gotten out of it.

They looked fine to me, but they were the first set of CNC heads I had ever had. All my previous sets of heads have been hand ported. A hand ported head looks "prettier" to me, but I don't think they are THAT much better.
