Default V6 to V8 swap parts?

Alright, so I am needing to know what i'm going to need to swap my 3.8 to a ls1. I have the engine and transmission already, I know that i'm going to need a computer, harness, and motor mounts. Just need to know what i'm going to need beyond that. Thanks for the help, oh and it's a 98 camaro

The housing is the same bit the carrier takes thick gears and the gear ratio is low

There rear end is not necessarily different.

If you have the 3.8L manual you have the 3.23 rear end which is a 3 series carrier. The automatics either came with the 3.08 which was a 2 series, or the 3.42s which was a 3 series. In any event you don't have to change the rear end when you do the swap anyway... obviously if you don't have LSD it is worth upgrading. In 1998 basically the only cars that came factory with LSD or 3.42s in the auto were Y87 cars... that started to change somewhat later on. My 2000 Firebird had 3.42s with LSD as a no cost option. At any rate you need to check the RPOs. G80 for LSD, GU4 for 3.08, GU5 for 3.23, and GU6 for 3.42.

The easiest way to do this is with a donor car and changing everything that is different.

In general:
LS1
LS1 PCM
Have to rig up the cables for the TB.
Will probably need to kill VAT
V8 K member
V8 fuel lines (unless you use 97-98 Corvette fuel rail)
LS1 radiator
Wiring Harness
Gauge cluster (optional)
Transmission + associated lines (switching auto for auto might be the easiest)
Radiator hoses
V8 steering rack is useful
V8 front springs would be nice but not necessary (rears are the same)
Sway bars are different but optional

There also may be other small things that you have to do custom or fabricate...

Here is a thread showing a swap on the V6 board:
