Default high oil pressure

hello, car is a 99 z28 i use valvoline 5w30 full syn. i put in a new sending unit not to long ago, before the new oil pump i was running about 40-45 psi on idle normal temp. i put in a new cam along with a lingenfelter HV oil pump and i ported it and used the stock oil psi relieve spring but i shimmed it a little. the lowest the oil pressure would go on a hot day normal temps on idle is 55 psi. when i accelerate and go up to 2500 or 3000 rpms my gauge is getting very close to 80 psi. now is this normal or is there something i need to worry about. car has 96k miles.

You put a high volume oil pump in your car......did you expect different results?

A higher volume wouldn't mean a higher pressure. It's because you shimmed the stock spring. I have a melling high volume pump and put the stock spring in it, same oil pressure I had before. I'd say if it doesn't go over 80 it should be fine. I'm sure someone with more knowledge will fill you in.

I'm running the HV Melling 10296 and at a 750rpm idle it pushes about 50 psi. Above idle pushes about 60 > 65. I left the stock spring in it. When it's cold, it will hit 75psi above idle.
