LS1 main cap ?

I can get an ls1 block bare for real cheap $250.00. The only thing is its missing the main caps. Can I just use other ones and have the block aligned honed?

It usually needs to be align bored and then honed. There is usually a big difference that won't clean up with just a hone, so you have to take out more material by boring it first.

I just want to make sure I can do it before I pull the trigger on this deal. I can get an LS1 bare block for $250.00 and a friend has a set of caps from another ls motor.

Yeah, you can do it that way, but I don't know how much of a deal it will be after that unless you already plan on align honing it for ARP main studs or something.
