i have a 2001 ls1 and im upgrading heads/cam. Im going with port n poished 243 ls6 heads and im stuck on witch cam to go with. Any suggestions on cams that will make the most power at a decent rpm range? maybe around 2000rpm or 2500 and up. I would like to get up 500hp's if posible.

Hitting 500 wheel hp with an NA LS1 is difficult.
My suggestion is first, don't get so caught up in peak hp numbers, and check this cam out.
Cam Motion:
C33-790 LS Hydraulic Roller Camshaft; 228'/232', .612"/.612", 113'+4'; 2,200 to 6,200 RPM

Here you go:
The recipe to 500RWHP with heads and cam
The guys above are right... it is hard (or rather expensive) to go that high, and the cam needed to do so isn't going to be the best down at 2000RPM... however if you spec the combo right it is drivable. You might need to think about something a little more aggressive than ported 243s, and various other things. The thread above details everything pretty well.
Then again, if you really want mid range and 500HP you can always go with more displacement (or FI).

give Patrick G or Geoff a call & they will be better help with a custom EPS grind built to your specs .... if you want something more like off the shelf .... check out TSP .... Matt can be alot of help for you too.

if you go with a top end cam like the ms3 or ms4 your low end will suffer and you will definitely need ported and milled heads, valve train work, possibly some fly cutting, a FAST intake, 1 7/8 headers, supporting mods, supporting mods, and more supporting mods. that would get you very close to 500rwhp. but again that's just a number.
