how many thousanths milled off 5.3 heads to get 12/1 compression?

Default how many thousanths milled off 5.3 heads to get 12/1 compression?

stock they are 11/1 compression correct? would i need to get .30 or more taken off to raise that a point?

I think .030 would get you about 11.4-11.5. I think you would have PV issues at 12:1, unless you used a stock cam.

5.3 = 62cc
5.7 = 67cc

5 cc difference so stock it will take a 10.1:1 motor to 10.5:1. So .050 if you could get away with it will get to 11:1 or so... (that's what I hear).

I just ordered a set of PP5.3 w/ 59cc chambers. If I'm going to use a small cam like a 224/224 .583 112 would I gain HP/TQ by milling to raise compression even more?

~.050 off will yeild 12:1. I am running .020 off of mine, and i'm right @ 11.3:1...

stock 5.3head on a stock 5.7LS1 block = 10.8

0.030" mill = 11.2

it would take quite a bit to get into the 12.XX ratio range
