Exclamation 2001 LS1 future mods,needs suggestions

Ok,guys.i need some advice on some mods I will be doing on my LS1 Rx7.
I dynoed it at about 300rwhp.My goal is 400rwhp.

Here's what I have planned-
799 heads(getting them for 150 in Mexico)
New hardened pushrods
Comp 918 springs
LS6 intake manifold
224 or 228 cam
Tune of course

Now my questions
What do you guys think? Suggestions?
Can I use 799 heads since they are truck heads?
Should I port the 799? Is porting necessary for my goal?
What company should I get my cam and pushrods?

Any input is greatly appreciated

Thanks

I think your goal is definately acheivable as long as you can get a good exhaust setup on the car. Longtube headers are a must to be able to make that kind of power. I would recommend the 228 of the two cams you are looking at. You can also get your heads ported if you like, it would just pick you up some extra power. We have those cams in stock a long with pushrods to fit!

i have:

stock 799 heads
224r cam
ls6 intake
85mm tb
1 3/4" headers
o/r y with 4" merge
4" mufflex cat back
30lb svo injectors

and i dyno'd at 396 rwhp on a hot humid day.

the same set up with a 228r would put down just over 400. but my main regret is not going with a slightly larger cam. the 224 and 228 are great but i think i would've been happier with the torquer v2. or maybe a custom 228/232 .588/.595 112 lsa.(which you can also order from TSP)

here's a couple more tips, john is absolutely right about exhaust, i would say that should be a main focus. the h/c/i will be the easy part for you. if you are going to use a t56 don't skimp on hydraulics, give tick performance a call and see what they recommend for a master cylinder. before you put your heads on have them checked, my 799's had bad valves seals. check out the melling high volume(not high pressure)oil pump, my stocker failed on me, and now i'm in love with the melling. ls2 timing chain should be thrown in there for good measure as well. and possibly lifters and rockers depending on how hard you plan on beating it and how much budget you have. ls7 lifters are cheap and harland sharp rockers go for around 400 iirc. check out TSP's deals, they usually have the little odds and ends for real cheap. like their head bolt and gasket sets, cam kits, spark plugs etc. and i'm sure if you work with them 1 on 1 they will do you right.

hope i could help. also let me know if you want to see my dyno chart.
