It can be done in car. You will need a right angle drill to run the cutting tool, especially in an F-body. Do a search, lots of threads about it here.

extra clearance for a bigger cam. I am 99.999% sure i will have to do this even with the valve angle of the trick flows as they are decked to 58cc

i currently have a 231/237 cam in the car, debating on going larger. Even with this current cam, i see flycutting in my future.

I hope I don't run into fly cutting problems with my cam, I don't think I will though. I'm planning on getting trick flow heads also. Do you think I will need to fly cut? 228/230 .588/.592 112 LSA. I thought the valve angles on the trick flows are more forgiving.

never in the car again...

its hard to put your mind up to it that it'll be easier by pulling the engine, but when your back is sore from leaning under the windshield for a few hrs you'll wish you pulled it. being relaxed and able to fully concentrate on what your doing makes it worth it to me.

I'm in the process right now installing heads and a cam in my car. I will never do it again with the engine in car. My back is annihilated.

pull the motor so much easier...

most likely with 58cc tts you will need to flycut...

mine are the same with a .040 gasket and 239/243 110+4 cam I was -.20 clearance, yes that is a negative...

I flycutted .110 for a final clearance of .090

airn't you doing Kmember too? just do it with the motor out, and change the Kmember, thats what I did.
if not, in the car is not that bad. ya its not nice and easy to work on, and you have to take the test head off 16-35times.but its not easy to get the motor out of the car too.

maybe because I don't have ac, egr, and extra crap in the way but pulling my motor was really easy, out the top too, that is with the balancer still on too...

also the best way in my eyes to flycut in the car or out is get a scrap head and cut it into a 1/4 head...then set up both cutter in the head at your depth you want to cut...then cut and move it over to the next cyclinder...I used only 2 bolts kiddy corner from each other...so only 8 moves of the 1/4 head and you are done... definitely alot easier when doing it in the car

Yep I agree with Chris with the heads being 58cc and that size cam your gonna have to flycut. I have the TF 215 with the 64cc running the Ms3 cam and no flycutting was needed. I'm close though and if I go to a larger cam then Flycutting is for me too, especially if I mill the heads also.

If you still have AC pull the engine. I pull the engine just to do a cam swap on my own car. If the heads have to come off the engine is coming out. No doubts about it.

you dont have to pull the engine just pull the heads off and remove the oil pan. Take the rod bolts out and pull the pistons out through the top of the motor and mark them in order. Fly cut them and make sure there all the same weight. Works awsome.
