Default Fly Cutting in block?

Has any shop out there tried this or is currently in the process of working on? Looking to put a big cam with milled heads on a stock short block but think it would be a waste of time and money to tear the whole motor down just to get the pistons cut for the cam. Anybody else have any dealings with this? Thanks, JP.

We have been doing this on engines for 10 years now, the flycutting tool comes from Isky, it costs about $150, and then you will need a head with no intake seats, we can sell you a head like this for $200. A roll of duct tape and a drill and about 3-4 hours of time.

Yeah...like Brent said...the Isky tool works very well...Mikey (Rapid Motorsports) flycut my pistons on the car with this tool...he said that it creates a ton of metal shavings, so be careful...

Had it done in my previous motor while motor was getting a head swap. Brent must be careful and take his time (good thing)...only took about 90 minutes for 1cc reliefs. Oily cotton strips may help grap some of the metal...but then vacuum.

We do it.I load the cutter up with grease to hold 90% of the shavings, then vacuum and air gun the rest.

Are you guys just using one of your old heads to use the cutter with or have you rented the head from a sponsor? Also how exaclty do you get the intake seats out?

people have done both. If you use the head you have, it will be off slightly but still seems to work.
