Possible rod knock
I took my car out today and wrung it out pretty good. When I got home I noticed it developed a knock. I let a sit while I was doing something else, started it back up and nothing changed - definitely has a kock in it.
Could have sworn it was a rod knock so I pulled the pan and looked at the rod bearings - which didn't look brand new, but didn't look horrible either. I just pulled the rod caps and checked the cap bearing halves.
Would have thought it would be obvious which rod was the culprit, what should I be looking for?
Engine is an LS1 out of a 2000 camaro.

Probably a carbon knock, try unloading each cylinder one at a time. If the noise stops that cylinder has a bearing or wrist pin problem. If the noise stays its most likely a chunk of carbon.

Thanks for the replies guys.
The oil plug did have some metal paste on it - not sure if that's normal or not. The inside of the engine is not as clean as I would expect for a 50k motor and there are some light scratches on most of the bearings.
I may tighten it back up and try killing each cylinder before I go too much farther. I have EFI live, should have tried that before pulling it apart

Well, I put it back together and ran it. Started out with the knock and then it went away. Still had the normal piston slap because it was cold but that went away like usual when it warmed up.
It was operating temperature when the knock started yesterday, so maybe it was a carbon knock - keeping my fingers crossed!
