Default FAST or LS6..heads or heads...

Ok,

So, I am going to start putting my car back together as I collect the parts. Long story short, I cracked a sleeve. previous set-up was a El-Torro cam box stock LS6 heads and a LS1 intake.

So sold the heads and I am left with a broken short block.

Now I am looking for another shortblock. Used preferbly under 80K miles. Something to last a lil and get me going again.

My goal is bottom of the 11's N/A or touch 10's. And add a 150 of juice.

So. here is what I am asking. I want to get a little more cam. Maybe 23x/24x? streetsweeper, polluter, something along those lines, or a custom grind. Should I go with say a ported stock casting. 5.3's or 799/243 or a Aftermarket. TFS220's, or maybe Darts. AFR's if I find a deal, lol And stick with a LS6 intake. Maybe a Ported LS2 (they flowing more than a LS6?)

or can I accomplish my goal (LOW 11's/High 10's) N/A with a Ported FAST 90/92 and the stock casting's Ported/Milled. I know the LS6 restricts the flow of even stock heads

The car is a 99 Z T-top car. Auto 4k Vig, 3.42 rear. On a slight diet. Probably around 3300-3350 w/out driver. Btw QTP 1 3/4 ORY w/ Flowmaster 4in merge. Walbro 255 and going with a SD tune

Now, I don't have any supporting mods yet (suspension), and its dumb to "have all dat motor and no traction" lol But, Its always easy to bolt on a Tq arm and Shocks than heads and such especially since the engine is already out.

Am I making any sense?

Makes sense to me. The best head you can afford is going to generally be the best route. Aftermarket castings are the way to go if you can conjure the $$$. People sell heads on here all the time. Sure, you may have to cut them or clean them up, but if you can get some AFR's or TFS for a decent price you are doing good.

On a side note. There are SI cars that were pretty decked out suspension-wise hitting 11's all day. You have the stall for it. Just make sure everything can handle a 1.40 60ft.

Oh, I nearly forgot. An added cost that some people dont forsee with aftermarket castings is the fact that you need to get rockers to go with them.

ported 243/799's, EPS 234/246 .602/.607 111 lsa, comp 850-16's, YT or HS rockers, FAST if you can afford it(stay away from ls2's), then start working on suspension and rear end.

Yes, they are the proprietary lobes from Engine Power Systems.
