i'm about to do comp 850-16 lifters and YT or HS rockers. my car will be making ~415 rwhp with ported 799's and a 224r cam. honestly i feel it's just cheap insurance(along with lifters). although some feel that the stock rockers are worth keeping because they are light weight and will withstand most n/a apps. in that case doing the comp trunion upgrade would be a worthy mod.

$140 and it replaces the stock needle bearings with heavy duty caged needle bearings that will with stand higher spring pressures and higher rpm and are less prone to failure.

It would be a good idea to ugrade the stockers for sure. Give Texas Speed a call they sell the upgraded stock rockers from Comp in a ready to go set.

Note that later GM rockers have upgraded bearings and the trunnion upgrade is a waste of money. Also, if the heads have bronze guides I would personally go with an aftermarket rocker. I found the stock rockers to have a very wide sweep across the valve stem which increases side loads in the valve guides. The Yella Terra I am running provided a very narrow and centered pattern when correctly set up (not that LS1howto doesn't set them up correctly.) I have also run the Crane rockers, but their wipe pattern is not much better (if at all) then the stock rockers so it also depends on which aftermarket rocker you choose. I like the YT's because they will dial in so easily and provide consistent narrow wipe patterns.

This is less of an issue with GM heads.
