Question Opinions on heads!!!

Hello all, Im new here and Im still trying to become familiar with these ls engines. My Camaro is getting a bit tired and this winter is an excellent time to upgrade- heads are first, but here's the problem Ive read a lot of threads on this forum bashing on Patriot LS heads, and recommending PRC (Texas Speed) heads. Im really wondering at this point if a lot of users here are bias for some reason. Ive talked to a number of shops around my town and have run into several people running patriot heads (1 running over 1000 rwhp consistently and reliably) and have heard no negative feedback. Anyone have some honest input??? (Dont mean to pick a fight, everyone has there reasons....) Thanks!

Alot of people recommend Texas Speed because of the great customer support and top knotch products they sell. I personally recommend them because of mine and several other peoples great experiences when dealing with them. Hands down a great company to do business with.

What are the goals in mind for your car? Surely your not just going to slap a set of heads on it without all the supporting mods.

i have 59cc patriot stage 2 ls6 heads with about 15000 miles on them and have been as fast as 11.05 at 123 in a n/a 346 full weight vette in decent air. have no complaints about them. about to step up to tfs though, its the natural progression lol.
never used tsp heads, but i do have their torquer v2 cam and i'm pretty sure my fast 90 came from there a long time ago, i dont remember. gonna go custom cam with the new heads though.

Ive talked to Texas speed and other places that do mostly LS series engines and every time i talk to Texas and then to the others they always disagree. I mean ALWAYS! so its hard to say whats the best, just make a goal and find what you need to get there that someone else has already found that works. The guy running the patriot heads you mentioned might have alot more work done to them than just bolting them on.

Heads are the most important for making good Hp numbers. Buy the best, it makes everything else a breeze without all the hype mods.

^^^^ Yep I started out with a ported 5.3 head and was disapointed and went to a proprietary casting and never looked back. If you are patient you can find a good deal on some AFR or TFS heads in the classifieds on here...

There are so many companies out there that offer great products i know what you mean. From TSP, AFR, TEA, Livernois and etc..

Your best bet like what has been mentioned is to just spend the time and research everything about all of them. Figure out what your real goal is. Is your car just a fun street car? Are you only trying to make X amount HP, or are you trying to run a particular 1/4 mile time?
