Default How many CFM picked up by 3 or 5 angle valve job on stock heads?

A buddy of mine has been wanting to go to a H/C setup, but with the big numbers from cam only setups lately, he's thinking of going wth one of those instead, something like the G5X3 114, MMT M2, or TRs new cam. He has a set of stock 241 heads. He can't afford any porting, and can't mill them because of the cam, but he wants to do something to the heads before they're installed. said the only thing I can think of that may help is a good valvejob. How many CFM, or what kind of gains would he see if he had a good multi angle valve job done on the heads? Anything that would help over the factory valve job or be worth the $$$?

Thanks, Shawn

Well depending on who's doing the work. I seen heads loose 10cfm and I seen heads pick up 20 CFM. IMO someone like HVH would be your best bet for a valve job. Its about $300, but Joe is one of the best.

I would think getting the most out of the mid lift numbers with a new valve job would be more important than just getting high peak flow. I also think he could easily spend ~$300 to $400 on a quality valve job for his heads.

We have done a bunch of stck eliminator LS1 stuff and believe me it is all in the valve job!!

you pay the shipping and we will do the valve job and assemble them N/C just to see how they will work in conjunction with a majic cam Flow sheets with swirl numbers before and after for sure!

SE LS1's are running in the high 9's with just a valve job and majic Hyd. cam

I know there is a lot of R&D involved with the SE stuff, but it still amazes me how fast those cars are going. Are more of those cars in the 9's other than Al Corda's TA?

Depending on what class and weigth they run there are few 10.10-10.0 cars, I am not sure how many actually have run in the 9's, big diff. between race day rules and testing day rules
