Default Harmonic Balancer Problems

After running my LS1 in my GTM a few times, I had some problems throwing off belts. It looks like the Harmonic balancer is about 1/2 inch off set from the rest of the pulleys. I am using the same balancer and ac mounting, but I had to relocate the alternator and a few other pulleys. My thoughts are that the balancer is not seated right, but I do not see how it can go on any further.

I am hoping someone can see from the pics what I might be doing wrong.

Huge Thanks

Dave

Almost looks like the outer ring has "slipped" and is coming off.
That last picture shows the hub cannot go on the crank much further.
I'd lean towards a new balancer.

What accessories are you using? F-body? Vette? Truck?

Man, you got it. That should have been obvious. I have been killing myself removing it and trying to put it back on. I am going to go out and get a new one.

Thanks

I have a C5 and I had to replace my harmonic balancer after 64,000 miles. I had gone 8000 miles and it's on it's way out again. I have an automatic transmission and I was wondering does anyone else have this problem? I had replaced it with the OEM part, is that the problem?

I work at a GM Dealer on the vette side and i have seen multiple balancers fail even seperate far enough to come apart and contact the power steering rack and yes the factory balancers SUCK we use a Dorman balancers and they seem to work great and I am a very strong about using factory parts also belts being thrown slipping squealing wearing prematurely is a very common result also if replaced make sure to follow proper installation procedures and a new bolt is required and proper torque methods and values
