Need cam advice for my setup
I have been looking and searching any info on cams that are in a simular setup as mine and I need some help. First of all it is a daily driver with the mods below:
2000 Camaro SS A4
TCI 3800 stall
lid & FTRA
LS6 intake
Ported TB
Jet-Hot LT's w/3" OR Y
3"cut-out
Borla cat-back
Predator Tuner
15x3.5 & 15x8 Prostars w/ ET Streets.
Running 11.5's @ 116mph now on motor.
I want a cam that produces track times(don't really care about Dyno #'s) that will work well with my stall(3800) and not have to rev to the moon. Also I do have a NX kit that I use every once in a while(100-150 shot). That may help with the suggestions.
The cams I have been looking at are around these:
222/228 or 224/228 around 560-570 lift and a LSA of 114
Would these be any good for me?
Do you have any suggestions?
Thanks for your help in advance.

I do agree with new TR cam might be a bit large for that size converter for it to be optimal. A TR224 or TR230 would be a good choice. You should see an easy 3 tenths/3mph with the cam swap.

224/224 is a proven performer, as for you saying you dont want to rev it, my small 216/220 used to pull to 6400rpm , and was pretty good at one time , but 400miles later i lost power. With a 125shot it gained 12mph in the 1/4 running 122mph , I dont know if you go with a big cam if you can tune the A4 idle problems out with your predator, might need LS1 edit.
And let me say Holy crap those are some great times and speeds for all bolt on A4 , congrats your car screws.

As far as the Predator tuning goes they write custom tunes for you or I might buy edit. Thanks for your input. My 100 shot is only getting me 5-6 mph right now I need to get it on a dyno and tune for the spray.

i am going to give you the best advice of all. lol. go as big as you can maybe 230 ish or as someone said tsp 228. don't put in a baby cam and want to take it out in a month or two. i made this mistake going with the mti b1 cam, now i want to put in the tsp 231/237 cam. mine is a daily driver and everything will be fine with a good tune, so don't worry and go big. good luck.

bump for ya....maybe a custom nitrous cam would be worth considering. I'm really
considering that route myself. Good luck.
BTW, your car is haulin' for the mods.
