oil pressure question....help please
i tried posting this in the firebird section, but received no responses, i have extensively looked on the forum for an answer to this question but i have found none. if its a re-post you have my apologies.
Now onto the question. I have a 1998 5.7 t/a. on cold run my oil pressure is around 55-60 on the gauge once warm it runs between 40-50, on warm idle it drops down to about 28-30 and bounces, and i can feel the car bouncing. i dont have any performance issues, no misfire or codes or anything. im just curious if these are normal psi's to be seeing.

The car bounces? Is it like a choppy idle bounce? My car runs about that oil pressure. Ive driven it 10,000 miles with it like that and it hasnt missed a beat. You might try replacing the oil pressure sending unit. I just dont think that is the problem if you say the car bounces though. Elaborate on the bounce please.

I can see the oil pressure bounce at 28-30 and i can feel it as i watch the gauge bounce, not like a misfire or rough idle but i can definitely tell the difference from an in park idle to and in drive warm idle. My last car was a 300zx TT so it might just be me adjusting to a v8 idle, i just wanted to make sure the oild pressure was normal because ive read that the ls1 oil pumps can go bad quite quickly
