Is this a good deal?
First, I'm stuck over here in South London, UK so laying my hands on US stuff, especially if it's not a mouse or rat motor can be a drag....
Second, hope this is the best forum for this...
I've located a L33 cutout from a 2005 Silverado, 20,000 miles, the seller wants $2400 for the lot, engine complete with PCM, loom, manifolds and cats, 4L60E and the propshaft.
Sounds a steal to me, given that 100,000+ iron block 5.3's seem to be on US ebay for well over $1,000.
But, there is a problem - the engine took a hard whack on the left hand side, the exhaust manifold seemed to take most of the force but it sheared all the exhaust bolts and took a chunk out of the side of the head, revealing the waterways and taking part of one exhaust port with it. I doubt it would weld up satisfactorily, unless someone has done it??
Anyone got a spare head for a L33? Are they available bare from GM? Ebay did not bring up any hits, so maybe someone has something lying in a corner.
Any advice on any of the above gratefully received...
Thanks
Gareth

Sounds like a very fair price. A motor, trans, and harness would be 2000+ just about anywhere in the states. The manifolds and other extras are good too.
I don't see any reason to not pick it up. Just inspect the block and make sure you don't have any cracks from the wreck.

given your situation being in the UK and all id grab all you could get and just get a head for it. bare you could get a used one for probably $500 and thats on the high end. just be sure the block is definitely in good shape

Would a pair of 243 heads off a 2005 GTO or 2007 'vette bolt straight up??
The wonder of classified ads and this forum :-)
