Default 25k mile Crane dual valve springs?

I have a chance to pick up a set of these with seats and titanium retainers for free or very close to it from a friend. They were used for around 25k miles on a .600 lift cam. I'd be using them with a Torquer V2 cam. Amy opinions?

rule of thumb is change springs every 22k-30k miles. so unless you have a very small cam and these things are rated at a high seat pressure i think itd be alot of work for little gain. not to mention I myself would be worried sick about em.

Well the price is right. 25k is a lot of miles on a spring, but their condition can be checked quantitatively and the retainers and other hardware might be reuseable even if the springs are out of useful life.

yeah agreed with darkman. titanium retiners are as costly as springs if they come with them for free sure go for it. on the other hand if the springs dont come with retainers then for a worn out spring youd have to buy $200 retainers plus seats seals and locks when the kit for all of its probably only $300-$350. just depends on the situation, give us some more details of the deal

Well the full deal is, an iPhone 3GS I don't use and $150, for his TNT nitrous ring kit with a full bottle, and the springs, seats, and retainers. I have a Torquer V2 cam sitting around that I've been waiting for a deal on springs to come up on, and this is pretty tempting. I'd probably just sell the nitrous kit.

ehhh. I think ive got to say no on the springs. retainers and hardware ok go for it but buy replacement springs for that kit. thats your best bet. Thats a decent deal if you can sell the nitrous. thats way you spend what maybe $200 tops on springs and all hardware. I simply wouldnt put worn out springs in a car. at this point thats what they are.

So far so good.......all 20 miles of it But in my defense it has been 20 miles of WOT blasts. Valvetrain is smooth and quiet from what I can tell. No issues.

If those are Crane 832 springs, pass on the deal. They have a harmonic right around 6,000 RPM and it will show on the dyno. Been there, done that, have the T-shirt. Look for other springs is my opinion. I spent six months trying to sort out a dip in my dyno curve that in the end was the valve springs and mine were new.
