Default Those with 5.3 heads...

What heat range of plugs are you running? I will be at 11.0-1 after my head install. Should I go to a (NGK) range colder, or stay stock? My seaches turned up nill.

Thanks

TR6's man, better get them now cause Advanced auto is the one that carries them in town and they have to order them. They will have a hard time finding the part # too cause it's not in their computer, it's Part # 4177 ,they will have them the next day typically.

The colder plug will help any signs of detonation and help reduce it. I had a 99 Lightning running 14lbs of boost and with the stock plugs it pinged like crazy with tuning and 93 octane. Changed the plugs and no more pinging. The colder heat range prevents detonation however you typically have to change them more frequently if you don't require that cold of a plug.

Looks like tr6's then. I can order them from Summit and get them pretty quickly. Saves me that drive. Sometimes I hate living in the boonies.

Dude I can order them for you tommorow and bring them if you want, that way you save on shipping. They're only like $14-16. No big deal man.

TR6s seem to foul out more often than 55s. I would only run a TR6 if I was having detonation issues. 55s are cold enough for most applications on the street.

FWIW, I have TR6s in my car @ 12.1:1 with the 200 shot and NO detonation....

It might be a good idea to run the tr6's if it's going to be a while before tune. Just to be a little safer. I have run both and can't feel any difference in the car.

Sly, thanks. What I think I will do it look at my tr55's when I pull them and if they look pretty good, reuse them and ckeck the knock with auto tap.

Sly, when do you want to use my auto tap? And I have some time before I will need the plugs. It may be the end of the month before I get the heads. But ya never know.

Use TR6 with boost or nitrous

Use TR55 gapped at .050"-.055" for everything else.
