Default stroker motor which one

well i really dont know which way to go with a motor. do i buy a new ls3 427 and have 650 hp for $10k, take my ls1 and stroke it to a 383, or short block ls2 short 402 and use my top in.
i have patriot ls6 stage 2 heads, fast 92 and TB, electric water pump, yella terra 1.7 rockers. I called Speedinc the other day and they said the heads are the problem. if i use my top end ill only get about 480-500RWHP if i but TF heads ill get more like 520-530RWHP is this true I dont know. plz help!!!!! oh and i do have a 6 speed and moser 9" with 4.10 gear too. Or do i just spend the $10k and have a ls3 427 for scoggin dickey. I really dont know what to do here plz help!!!!!

You can build a 402 for much less than $10k. Your heads will have to be changed for better ones. Even LS3 heads will make more at a decent price.
Of course there is no substitute for bigger cubes (except boost ), so if budget allows do it.

I understand that u can build a 402 for cheaper but scoggin dickey said they can sell me a LS3 427 for $10k and that is complete motor with a FAST 102 and TB with injecters, shipped to my place. I just know ls3 stuff is the way to go anymore. Idont know really what to do though. i mean what is the hp & tq differnece between a ls2 402 and ls3 427??????

In my opinion, this is what it comes to .... how long do you plan to keep your car??? If you plan to drive and/or race it until the motor has no life left in it, go for the "427 crate". If you plan to drive and/or race it for for a year or two, get bored and sell it, go with the 402 LS2 short-block (actually, that is what I am running). You never get close to your money out of a heavily modded cars and, espeially in this and the near future's economy, it is even worse. Now, on the other hand, if money is no object, then it's a no brainer .... 427!!!!

if you stroke your ls1 block to a 383 you can use your current heads and intake and make close to 500rwhp with the right cam.

What do your needs require? Race? Street? Mix of both? N/A?

My opinion, go as big as you can afford...

If you don't have a ton to spend now but want to upgrade later.. I would get a forged 427 or 416 short from tsp... stock l92 heads and l76 intake with a custom cam. Later when you have more money get the heads ported and either port your intake or move up to a 102 fast.

Just another idea for you to think about.

Sooooo many variables its really to broad of a range for a definitive answer. Cruise the Dyno section or do a search.

Perhaps you are not quite grasping.
It all depends how you build it but for argument's sake, let us say you build them all optimised, the 427 has the most potential.
383 close to 500rwhp
402 500>530 rwhp
427 550+

But this is built with the right combos.
IMO in your case, a nice 402 will do nicely.

hmmmm .... it sounds like a build you are describing with a SDPC 402 LS2 would be similar to my 402. I suspect you noticed my signature ... 508/497.

I went 403 and it cost me a net of $600 more. A brand new LS2 block is $1100 and I sold my LS1 block for $500... I have TFS 220'S and would make an easy 20-30 more if I were M6. Small 1 3/4" headers, cats and Ypipe + catback all cost me HP but it is after all a streetcar.....
