Default ls7 lifter prep time

How long do I leave my ls7 liters in oil before I can install them? Is 3 hrs enough?

What I would suggest is pushing the plunger in a few times with the lifter submerged in oil . That will guarantee that the lifter is at least partially filled with oil . Soaking them is'nt really getting oil inside where it will need to be to be as close to normal running conditions right off the batt .

Yeah, Just oil em up and put them in, Lots of folks soak them for a day, Personally I soak them for a second then put them in. You have to remember when a lifter is oiled It takes pressure from the pump to do it, and If these are new lifters they have oil in them already.

Yep I just oil the wheels good and spin them over a lot untill they roll very nice and then use them after oiling the outside of course as well. They will pump up when the oil pressure hits them and they have some test oil in them. You can fill the filter up mostly before you screw it on as well which will speed up the time it takes the oil to hit the bearings and lifters etc.

What ever you do be sure its spotlessly clean. Don't use greasy dirty fingers to handle them etc same with the can or what ever you soak them in. I would soak them for a few mins and pump them up with a push rod then install um.

My buddy and I soaked his for a couple hours. No problems.. And finger prints won't hurt anything as long as there is no dirt, grains of dirt or anything that could mar the aluminum in the engine (or anything else for that matter.) As clean as possible, but not STERILE.

I agree with racer, just lube the wheels and the outside. Soaking them doesnt do much but waste 3 hours of time..

You can use a plastic syringe to prime the lifter.
