Default cam question...

i have a 98 trans am with a few standard bolt ons headers, CAI etc. and looking to upgrade to a cam...question i have is the car has 95000 miles already.. is it necessary to spend the extra money to upgrade to new lifters also?

i might be wrong, but i don't think so, because the heads will have to come off to get to the lifters....then you gotta get new head gaskets/bolts/etc.......i'd say wait till you upgrade the heads

It wouldnt hurt, A new set of LS7 lifters runs around 125 bucks, or so. But if you are just swapping your cam, and decide to keep your stock lifters, DO a search, there are a couple ways to keep them in the trays when doing the cam swap, BUT do not trust the trays to hold them, When one falls out on removal or installation, YOU will have your whole day ruined. Then you will have to pull your heads off and go thru all that....

also consider a new oil pump and timing chain..look at a TSP cam pkg.get the cam install kit .

The Texas Speed cam kits are nice & a good savings by getting the kit.
