looking for advice on a new setup
i'm looking for some opinions on which way to go with my GTO. i guess i'll start by giving the basic setup thats in the car now
fresh lq9 bottom end with pistons flycut .060
custom cam from FTI 230/242 spec'd for a single plane intake
stock runner 243's with a vj and bowl work done Airflowdevelop on here
ls6 intake with stock tb
1 3/4 pacesetters
ls7 clutch
car made 430/420 at rpm in delaware. (graph below)
this motor was meant for my z which is why it has a single plane cam in it. i bought the GTO and the motor was junk so i ended up dropping the motor in it instead. i needed the car running so i put the ls6 on it. when RPM was tuning the car they said it wasn't moving air like it should. i'm guessing it's due to the valve events being wrong for the intake. now i'm looking to correct the setup but i'm unsure which way to go. i already have a ported vic jr but i haven't had any luck finding any n/a gto's running it. if i did go with the vic jr i'm thinking a 4150 would be the only way because it seems like any elbow would negate the switch. if i stick with the ls6 it needs a new cam. so the basic options are
1) keep the ls6 intake and switch the cam
2) run the vic/elbow and hope it picks up
3) run the vic/4150 and see what the current cam is capable of
so what would you guys do? i know it's cheaper to swap the cam but i'm not sure power wise if it's worth it. the car drives damn good as it is
